As I am writing this I have finished Module 1. So far so good on the success of this course. I can't believe all the technology applications that were covered in the first round. They are all very amazing. From voice thread to prezi, there are some pretty cool applications out there that will enhance student learning.
My one main concern is if we are going to continue to learn this many applications. I would really like to focus on learning a few (the ones that catch my eye) and go into a lot of detail on them. I understand this course is an introduction to online learning, so there will be many. I don't think I will be overwhelmed, I just want to take some and use them in my classroom. Obviously just like traditional teaching, practice makes perfect.
One more thing, as I begin this course I wouldn't say I'm reluctant, but I have doubts on how well online teaching is compared to traditional classroom learning. One thing I have learned along the way however is that when you have a highly qualified online teacher the course will be outstanding. I, along with many others I believe, have these preconceptions about how online classes work. These preconceptions will be altered in the next modules as I am learning much and ready to put this information into my Bioethics class 2nd semester.
